Established in 1989, the Mennonite Healthcare Plan is an HMO-type service organization that provides healthcare insurance coverage to approximately 18,000 people and is licensed by the Puerto Rico Insurance Commissioner. Headquarters are located in Aibonito with a branch office in Cayey.

The health insurance plan was initially created for patients who received medical services at the Aibonito Hospital or from its medical faculty. The plan now includes over 400 providers in primary and secondary areas.
