AIBONITO MENNONITE GENERAL HOSPITAL

This is Mennonite Health System’s main hospital. Located in Aibonito’s La Plata sector, this hospital is characterized by its excellent services. Although it mainly serves the municipalities of Aibonito, Barranquitas, Orocovis, and Coamo, the hospital treats patients who come from all over the island and other Caribbean destinations seeking our specialized programs.

The hospital is known to have one of the Caribbean’s best orthopedic programs for hip and knee replacement. In addition to its top-notch services, the hospital offers a “special mystique” that captures the attention of both patients and visitors: an ambiance of simplicity and love created by a diligent staff whose intention focuses on serving our patients.

Some people describe this mystique as a result or byproduct of the love spread by our founders, who came from different parts of the United States as missionaries to serve the country folk of La Plata sector and provided voluntary services with no remuneration.

Our coworkers, our physicians and our volunteers share this same life and service philosophy that is deeply treasured by our institution’s Board of Directors.

Aibonito’s Mennonite General Hospital features a 96-member Medical Faculty. Most of them live in our area and share our community’s way of life within a small country town. The town of Aibonito is known both as “Puerto Rico’s Garden” and “Puerto Rico’s Switzerland” thanks to its beautiful surroundings and temperate climate. Aibonito has a population of 27,000 inhabitants and its annual June Festival of Flowers is quite famous throughout the island.
